Abstract

The objective of this research is to outline the direction and basic concept for the establishment of an industrial belt in northern Gyeonggi Province. The establishment of an industrial belt in northern Gyeonggi aims to advance the industrial structure of northern Gyeonggi Province and to attract new industries. The industrial belt should serve as a district driving growth in northern Gyeonggi Province, which is currently focused on low value-added industries, and should also play a role as a hub for the future peace economy.
In Paju, a display cluster has already been formed, and in Yangju, a techno valley and various industrial complexes are under development. The display
industry is transitioning from LCD to OLED as the main production item, with vehicle OLEDs being a segment where South Korea holds a high global market share. South Korea's display industry requires strengthening in the R&D sector and in the fields of materials, components, and equipment, and
investments should be made to foster these areas in the industrial zones of Paju and Yangju.
Meanwhile, the mobility industry, which uses OLED as an intermediate goods, includes future cars and autonomous driving, which are next-generation
industries that need to be nurtured nationally. If infrastructure related to automotive electronics and autonomous driving is established in Yangju, it is expected that an industrial belt linking Paju and Yangju can be formed.. In the long term, the industrial belt can also play an important role in realizing a peace economy in the northern Gyeonggi Province area.
